The Truth About Real Men

In this day and age, men no doubt often have a difficult time trying to define what it is that women want and look for in their partners. The simplest way to an answer may be to just ask a woman they know. Through experience, women, such as myself, are more readily able to explain what qualities a woman wants in her man because we have often discovered these very answers in the process of searching out the right one for ourselves. It may take many tries before landing the right man, but it can be done, as I have learned, for it has happened for me. The wanted man is not so much about appearance, although attraction is necessary, but rather, it is about the actual qualities that make up the man that determines whether or not he is a wanted man or not. These very qualities can explain what a woman wants.

Women do not want a man who has to prove at every turn that he is manly because he hasn’t yet discovered this for himself. The primary characteristic of the man I want to keep that makes him a “keeper” is his sense of self. It doesn’t change regardless of whether he is hanging with the boys, or in the company of women. He is respectful towards all human beings, regardless of gender, and has no need to be tough when tough is not the response called for in daily living. He treats me as his everything, and in turn, it only makes me want him more and more. This man is not defined by what he does, because he already knows and is in touch with who he is.

A real man has no need to throw money around for the sake of doing so, but spends wisely because of the pleasure it brings him. He is in touch not only with himself, but with his woman’s feelings and needs as well. His gestures are thoughtful and filled with respect. He knows how to show his woman how valuable she is to him, whether that be through a wonderful dinner, a squeeze of the hand, or a knowing smile across the room.

Valuing another human being simply because they exist is the highest compliment any human being can pay to another. Men who are keepers know that respect and an being in tune with their partner are desirable assets, yet they also care about women in other ways. When a man listens to a woman or asks her opinion about something, the man is conveying value upon her, and taking the time to engage in meaningful, thought-provoking conversation with her. There is much value in the man who cares about a woman’s opinion, who seeks to understand a woman’s viewpoint, and even finds merit in it.

A true keeper not only hears what a woman says, but is in no way threatened by her opinions or her intellect. Rather, he sees her contribution to the conversation for the value that it holds. If he doesn’t understand, he is able to ask for clarification. This man can discuss various topics with a woman, and is not constricted to sports topics. He is well-read, intelligent in words and wisdom, and easily engages in meaningful conversation with his woman.

There is no one way to express love for a woman. A real catch knows many ways to convey his emotions to the woman he loves, whether it be through simple touch, helpfulness, surprise gifts, they all convey to the woman that she is important to him and that he cares about her. Words mean little if actions do not match what is being verbally expressed. This man tells you how he feels, and looks forward to spending time with you, even if you do nothing more than sit together over a cup of coffee.

Self-assuredness, without conceit, is a sure sign of a man worth keeping. In order to understand a woman, a man has to understand the gentler side of himself, and be in touch with those parts of himself as well - comfortable even! He is not afraid of being sensitive, of feeling his emotions, of losing himself in connecting with his woman. It is through these aspects of himself that true contact can be made, and the relationship can expand and last.

To sum up, the subject of what a woman wants is often not what has been erroneously believed. A man that reinforces a woman’s sense of self is much more of a keeper than a man who has to work hard at being manly, or trying to be Mr. Right. A man who is confident and secure in who he is won’t need to test his sense of self out on a woman, but rather, can spend his time, loving her and being loved in return. These are the characteristics of the man women want to keep.
