I don’t normally write a review before I’ve beaten a personal game but after several hrs of play I’ve reached say Donkey Kong Country is grand. i have been previously playing it since this midnight release. Where do i start? It’s like slipping on a well used glove. I didn’t even should read the manual. this graphics are gorgeous, the controls are great as well as for once the motion controls didn’t feel just like a gimmicky addition. Rare merely got owned!
Many hours of this misspent youth involved trying to play Donkey Kong Country Returns for the SNES, whether alone or that has a friend, I remember playing which silly Mine Cart Madness level until i had it memorized. All I can say will be people at Retro Studios must’ve loved DKC like many people because they just knocked it out of your park with this just one. They took everything I loved concerning the first DKC; barrel craziness, plenty of enemies, easy and accurate controls, and beautiful landscape; and magnified these things by the factor of 100. This is just upon sequel I’ve been anticipating, for years. Retro Studios failed to reinvent the wheel, they duplicated and polished the wheels then stuck it on some sort of Ferrari. Who cares it’s DK! zero seriously though, gone is the kremlins, now we’re facing this mask thing a-la collision Bandicoot. This mask matter steals your bananas, and today DK has to acquire them back…Donkey Kong style. The classic DK humor is here, and the actual cut scenes have that DKC feel to these people. Which are very well done by the way.
Controls
The controls are great for any platformer. I seriously had no problem slipping right in. they may be tight and responsive. The motion controls are easy to understand, and actually make perception. For instance to accomplish DK’s trademark ground pound is merely a matter of trembling the Wii Remote and Nunchuck up and down, in - you suspected it - a slapping variety motion. Plus they provide you with multiple options for regulates. (No GameCube controller while. )
Graphics
Beautiful. certainly. Bright and vibrant foundation with colorful and authentic enemies. DK and Diddy get never looked better. The detail in the respective character animations is awesome. The Wii is probably getting put through some paces with this game. Everything is crisp and sharp. Nothing to complain about in the least.
Music/Sound
Yeah, those rocking marketplace beats are back. Remixed in every of their glorious depth. I let it set on the start menu for a few minutes and just rocked away. XD The sounds are also very good. DK’s full roar and chest beating sound great, and Diddy’s little squeaks along with enemy deaths are clear and are recreated well.Levels You start out in the jungle just as the original DKC, except at steroids. You also have a strong over world view from the island also like DKC. yet these aren’t just clones. indeed the barrels are right here, and the cool secrets that were scattered around all over DKC make the look of them too. Which was great. (That’s another thing Retro Studios nailed on the head. All of the secrets. )
You have the traditional K-O-N-G letter getting, as well as bigger picture pieces which unlock what is some really cool material, coins (like DKC two and 3) which you need to use to purchase alternative tracks among other stuff, bunches of bananas. The list goes on. But it’s all there for you to find on purpose or by accident. (Don’t tell me that my buddies and I are the only real ones who used to help swap secret locations around as though we were looking at status symbols? ) oh and tons more quarry Cart levels. There’s one within the first world even. thank you Retro!
The checkpoints make their way back the following too. That’s right, just like back many years ago. You die before the checkpoint going back and restart the amount. I smiled a very little inside.
One weird issue though. I was alone at Wally World that showed up at Midnight to have this. Surely I can’t be alone who was excited adequate to drive 20+ miles to have it. It just shocked me because thought about expected a long collection. It was so worth every penny though. I’m not embarrassed to say I own a nintendo wii gaming console now XD.
Any approach, enough nostalgic gushing. If you’re a DKC buff (forget that horrible N64 thing) it is a must own. zero joke. Maybe now we can finally retire my SNES wagon…Nah. XD.
