Davidoff Men’s Cologne: Pure Masculinity
Sep1
The name Zino Davidoff is synonymous with two things: Cigars and Perfumes. Davidoff’s philosophy of the good life is conveyed in his fragrances. The collection of scents bespeaks worldly indulgence – Cool Water, Adventure, Silver Shadow, Good Life and Echo. Each scent is a reflection of sensuality, beauty and love for the finer things in life.
Cool Water Cologne for Men is one of the all time best selling men’s colognes. It’s very masculine and reminiscent of the ocean - fresh and breezy. This exquisite fragrance combines coriander, rosemary, sage and also accented with amber, oak moss and sandalwood. Cool Water is considered the classic masculine scent in Davidoff’s fragrance line. Even if it was introduced in the late 80’s, it still attracts quite a number of perfume fans today. One long-time Cool Water cologne user says, “My favorite men’s scent. I suppose it could come across as dated because it is one of the very first aquatic men’s fragrances and so many are now built along the same lines. It isn’t a huge statement maker and most wouldn’t use it as a signature scent because it’s fairly common so you’ll smell like a lot of other guys, but it’s clear and sexy and attractive without being an olfactive challenge. I love this on men. Elegant, clean and sure.”
Davidoff Adventure Cologne is a woody spice fragrance inspired by the untamed nature of the adventurous man. The freshness starts with a boost of mandarin orange, bergamot, lemon, green tea and black pepper. The heart features black sesame seeds and South American pimiento. The base is a smooth finish composed of Peruvian cedar, vetiver and musk. According to one perfume reviewer, Davidoff Adventure is reminiscent of D&G’s The One but the former is lighter and fresher,” Like many other members of forum about perfumes I found this one extremely similar to D&G The One, besides the launches were at the same time. In spite of that I have to say that Adventure is fresher and versatile, more fruity, you can use it anytime while I found The One hard to use in hot days.”
Echo is a rich, woody-spicy fragrance targeted towards a more mature market. It’s composed of aquatic notes, aldehydes, white suede, chili, musk, cedar wood and black pepper. This aquatic-ozonic-metallic fragrance evokes an edgy attitude, sensual and full of manly character. Like the other Davidoff colognes, Echo emanates a crisp and clean feel. One fan described it as a wearable perfume; it fits any occasion, be it formal or informal. One striking feature of the Echo Cologne is its bottle – the design is contemporary, attractive and could pass as a nice piece of urban architecture.
Silver Shadow is an intense oriental-woody fragrance that combines zesty and warm accords of amber, oak moss, saffron, patchouli, orange, coriander and cedar leaves. This scent is arid on the dry down with above-average longevity. It’s a nice everyday fragrance and even more attractive when worn on special evenings.
Davidoff’s suite of men’s colognes have season-specific flankers and some versions are reinvented to create a watered down or a more intense version of the original. More of Davidoff Colognes for Men at scentiments.com
Prade Amber Perfume Review
Jul0
Created with a rich base of amber, Prada Amber Pour Homme is a sensual, masculine scent that draws a playful contrast with four basic accords: amber, fougere, cologne and leather. The top notes of mandarin, cardamom and bergamot conveys a classic ambiance while the oriental elements radiate comforting warmth that calms. The base culminates with a sleek finish of leathery notes of vetiver, neroli saffron and suede. Notice the fleeting fruity opening followed by a sweet Tonka-vanilla heart with hints of light patchouli. The light powdery touches of base notes infuse a mild sweet-like scent, not too sweet because every note is well restrained. This scent is elegant and masculine in a gentle kind of way.
Prada Amber is not the type of pour homme fragrance that overwhelms. It is not heavy on the sillage and certainly, does not announce itself in the crowd. It is meant for intimacy and closeness. There is a distinct soapiness but the kind of luxurious soap imaginable like those sold in high-end shops in Italy. One loyal Prada Amber gushed, “This scent is a tease. It doesn’t command attention. It’s too subtle to do that. Instead it begs for attention. It captivates your interest with it’s promising notes, drawing you in closer to get better acquainted, but never giving up all it’s secrets completely all at once. Addictive. It has an inviting sexiness to it.”
And yet another user who can’t get enough of Prada Amber, “It’s very hard to identify the individual notes in this fragrance, and yes it does have a synthetic feel if over-applied. And yes it definitely smells like soap, but the kind of soap you would find in hotel rooms costing more than $1000 a night… this has been one of my mainstays for quite some time… the sillage is amazing, the opening to dry down is tightly knit, and you never get the feeling that you smell like the other three guys in the elevator… this is a tremendously light and powdery fragrance, so if you are a lover of woods or deeper scents you will hate this… all in all a extraordinary Prada cologne to go with my great Prada footwear.”
Prada Amber Pour Homme is one of the most intriguing fragrances from the Italian perfumery house. The ingredients are masterfully balanced and harmonized resulting to a unique fragrance like no other — notably soapy, fragrant and long-lasting. The scent drifts throughout the day leaving you with clean waves of luxurious fragrance.
