Stretchmarks - A Growing Nuisance.
Feb0
Huge amounts of individuals across the world suffer from stretchmarks. Both men and women will find them showing after periods of significant growth such as puberty. Women, as is often the case, suffer with them after pregnancy.
They occur as our skin attempts to maintain its expansion with the rate of growth in the bones, muscles or, in the instance of pregnancy, child. Invariably however, it fails to do so and tears form in the middle layer of skin, referred to as the Dermis. These tears appear as red streaks at first and change over time to a silvery colour.
The stretch marks are actually areas of skin with lower levels of collagen. As the dermis is ripped in two during the growth phase, it fails to heal itself so that it appears like its former state. Of course, it is only a cosmetic concern as there is practically no medical disadvantage to having stretch marks, the cosmetic concerns, however, are great. They make you feel self concious in front of people and don’t look very nice.
Stretch mark treatment involves boosting the levels of collagen within the Dermis layer of skin. This is best done by increasing your own physical natural ability to produce collagen rather than introducing it from external sources. The most common way of doing this is medical needling using a dermaroller, which is a type of collagen induction therapy.
The other additional advantage of this type of treatment, is the way in which it increases the effectiveness of creams and oils, such as the very popular bio oil. It gives these lotions the opportunity to penetrate the upper levels of skin far more effectively providing a much enhanced result.
As with anything health or medical related, it is important to do your research and go and see your doctor before beginning or using any product or treatment.
Try the skin roller - My Stretch Marks Are Almost Gone!!
Jul0
Now that I have used my skin roller, I have to say that it is the best product I have EVER used! I was a little bit skeptical at first, I mean, how can a few needles reduce stretch marks? But as it was recommended to me by a friend and nothing else had worked on the stretch marks on my legs and tummy so, I decided to give it a try. I ordered my collagen roller and some cream (which is 100% natural source) from collagen rollers.com and it arrived to me the NEXT DAY, I was REALLY impressed. I had ordered a 1.0mm skin roller so as not to go too small or too large and it still looked a little daunting as I opened the packaging, so i’m happy to not have gone any bigger.
At first it gave me a weird tickling sensation, and I wasn’t sure whether I liked the sensation or not, but as I used it more I hardly even felt it. I found it much easier to use on my legs then my tummy because I am quite ticklish, so I just sat laughing when rolling my stomach.
I use my skin roller every week day with the cream and then give it the weekend off for my skin to have a rest. It only took about one and a half weeks for me to really notice the difference. My stretch marks were much less pronounced, they had gone lighter in colour and shorter in length. My skin even felt healthier!
About a month after using the skin needling roller and cream my stretch marks have almost gone! My confidence in my body and in general has rocketed and I am sure that they will continue to improve and maybe one day, fingers crossed, they will be completely healed! So, what are you waiting for?!
Which Type of Vitamin C Skincare Is Right For Me?
Jun0
Using vitamin C skincare can have a dramatic anti-aging impact on your skin, but it does depend on which type of product you buy. Different products have different concentrations of vitamin C and some types of vitamin C do not store well. These products are available in a wide range of prices which further adds to the confusion.
To find out what type of vitamin C is good for you and your skin, you need to know the difference between between the different types and what they are supposed to be used for. Below are listed the main three types of vitamin C skincare all with a brief explanation of what they are and how to best use them to your advantage.
Magnesium ascorbyl phosphate, also known as MAP is a derivative of vitamin C with a collagen boosting effect. This type of vitamin C is a very stable type which means it does not degrade as fast. It can even be used on sensitive skin as it is very gentle. To stop MAP from degrading and oxidizing it is best to store it in a dry place away from sunlight.
L-ascorbic acid is a natural form of vitamin C. This form of the vitamin must be properly stored. L-ascorbic acid certainly has its downsides: it oxidizes very quickly when exposed to sunlight and air and can be very irritating to certain skin types. Dermatologists recommend that if you do not know the correct way of using this type of acid, It’s best to avoid it. L-ascorbic acid is unsuitable for people with rosacea or sensitive skin.
Ascorbyl Palmitate is a lot like the MAP type of vitamin C, but does not work quite as quickly or quite as effectively as MAP. Much like L-ascorbic acid; it must be carefully looked after and stored away from sunlight and air, as this type of vitamin tends to degenerate very fast. To be able to achieve the effects of collagen boosting with this type of vitamin, you must use it a lot more frequently and in much larger doses than you would have to use with MAP.
Make sure you know the exact ingredients any vitamin C skincare contains before buying. Some manufacturers add various types of vitamin C which renders the product ineffective and can also be irritating for your skin. By checking what ingredients the products have you will know what product is best for you.
