YSL’s Best-Selling Perfumes for Men
Aug0
The Yves Saint Laurent fragrances for men have one characteristic that never fails to surprise critics and customers alike. All scents are undeniably masculine. It’s bold, virile, rich and addictive. YSL is masculine when it needs to be masculine and feminine when it needs to be feminine. It doesn’t teeter on the image it wants to project. It’s not an either/or fragrance because it is hardly androgynous.
As a man, you wouldn’t want to be caught dead wearing a borderline femme and pour home scent. On lighter and laid back days, aquatic and cooler fragrances are preferred and for evening affairs or special occasions that demand for a more richer and exuberant scent, heavy musk and chypre types are more suitable.
Each YSL fragrance conveys a different sense of masculinity. He can be playful and roguish one moment then becomes serious and aggressive so much so when the situation calls for it.
Kouros
Kouros is a fragrance of strength. It’s strong, pungent and screaming masculinity: powerful and intense, the perfect chypre. There is no middle ground in this fragrance. Either you love it or hate it. Certainly, this perfume is not for boys.
L’Homme Yves Saint Laurent
L’Homme YSL is a woody-floral fragrance. Its elegant freshness is brought about by the middle floral-spicy notes that feature violet, basil and white pepper. Compelling and charming, L’Homme YSL is a wonderful daily scent. Hip and modern and very easy to wear.
Opium Pour Homme
An oriental feast of spice and woods best describes Opium Pour Homme. YSL’s Opium anthology is warm blend of spice, vanilla and woods accords. The Pour Homme version was created in such a way that the deep aroma of the black currant and vanilla persists longer than the usual. It’s uplifting and very sensual especially on the dry down.
M7 YSL
M7 is raw virility in its purest form. This desirable fragrance contains one of the most expensive components – agarwood. Agarwood originates from Southeast Asia and is known for its aphrodisiac properties. This fragrance is truly intense. Sillage is more than enough. A wonderful choice for romantic evenings.
Rive Gauche Pour Homme
Rive Gauche is an impeccable barbershop-type aromatic fougere perfume. This classic fragrance is a well-balanced blend suitable for formal occasions. It’s a tad old-school at first but mellows out and develops into something slightly sweet. There is little fanfare and evokes no desire to be the center of attention.
Jazz
Vibrant and teeming with energy, Jazz is one fragrance that sets the stage for an aromatic woody harmony. It’s a fusion of floral and green accords. Basil and anise at the top followed by lavender, geranium and carnation; the base caps it off with nuances of leather, musk and incense. Jazz is an all-season fragrance and perfect as a daily scent.
Some YSL perfumes comes in limited edition, season-inspired versions. These are available in stock in most department stores. But if you’re looking for the old releases, might as well check out discount perfume stores online because most often than not, they are always available in their inventory.
Thierry Mugler perfume Angel Innocent review
Jul0
“Innocent, spirited and playful, instantly seduces with a sparkling, fruity cloud. Its tender, delicious mist envelops the skin with delight, inspiring a desire for eternal renewal.” (Sephora.com)
Angel Innocent by Thierry Mugler is for the woman who prefers to seduce through innocent charm. Its sweet, non-invasive fragrance fills the air with a carnival of sweets that features sugared almonds, praline, candied fruits and chocolate truffles. This delicious scent is a a fusion of lush notes that include bergamot, mandarin, helional, honey, dewberry, black currant, passion fruit, red berries, almonds, meringue and amber musk. Although laden with confectionery sweets, Innocent is not as cloying as the original Angel. The fragrance evokes pictures of youth and as the name suggests, innocence. It is more fresh and perfectly suits a young woman.
Innocent opens up with a creamy blend of fruits and florals. The orange blossoms stand out giving it a nice citrusy aroma. It dries down to a romantic blend of ambery musk, vanilla and meringue. The sillage reeks a familiar Angel character in it. Longevity is moderate and perfume reviewers agree that is it best worn during the winter months.
One perfume fan commented, “It starts out sweet and fresh and the dry down is much lighter then Angel. The dewberry gives it a sweet and fruity touch on me and I love it for it, when the base notes take over there is only a hint left of the earlier notes and the sweetness changes into something more subtle and harder to notice.” As Angel Innocent is a lighter fragrance than the parent, the dry down may be fainter. With some users, the sillage is a lot better. Angle Innocent holds longer on the skin. According to another perfume critic, “This scent really smells very happy. reminds me of a shower of sweet and younger days of my life – carefree and full of dreams. I think it’s because of the honey. This is a quiet but strong scent do not be mislead.”
Created by perfume designer Laurent Bruyere, Innocent was introduced in the market in 1998. Thierry Mugler’s fragrances include Angel Caprice de Star (2007), A*Men Pure Coffee (2008) and Alien Eau Luminiscente (2008).
